Notion Ink says Adam tablet gets minimum 15-hour life

More Notion Ink Adam tablet tech specs revealed

Notion Ink CEO Rohan Shravan shared more technical details on the company's Adam tablet over the weekend. Chief among the revelations was that the Android tablet does indeed offer longer battery life than Apple's iPad, as previously promised. Shravan says power draw is low during OpenGL-powered gaming sessions and that he got between 15 hours and two days of battery life on a full charge.

Shravan said the Adam's LCD, Wi-Fi, 3G, speakers at full volume and Tegra processor are the most power-hungry aspects of the tablet, in that order.

The CEO also praised his product's speakers, saying a more efficient speaker enclosure was created to boost low frequency response and the body of the tablet itself as the resonator. Subjectively, the speakers are dynamically much better than those of other tablets, Shravan said.

The 10-inch tablet will play up to 1080p videos via an HDMI output on an external screen, or 1024x600 on its own screen. The source file can remain on a plugged in USB stick rather than transferred to the Adam's memory. The Adam has two USB ports of its own, letting users plug in a mouse and keyboard. The Eden interface allows users to run three visible applications at the same time. The right side of the tablet's screen lets users have as many applications open as they want.

The tablet is expected to ship later this year, either in November or December. Pricing remains unknown, but Shravan promised a much more substantial update regarding the Adam in the near future.
