Lens Profile Downloader makes debut

Adobe has posted early release candidates two planned software updates, Lightroom 3.3 and Camera Raw 6.3. The patches mainly add RAW support for recent cameras, such as Canon's PowerShot G12 and PowerShot S95, and Nikon's D3100, D7000 and Coolpix P7000. Also newly compatible are the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2, and Samsung's NX100 and TL350/WB2000.

More profiles for Canon, Nikon, Sigma and Samsung lenses have been introduced. The Lightroom update moreover makes a variety of bugfixes, handling issues like output to TIFF/PSD when using Lightroom and Photoshop CS4, and Auto-ISO values for the Nikon D3s. Some other problems dealt with include iPhone 4 imports being complete, and the program failing to launch Photoshop CS5 if CS4 has been uninstalled after CS5's installation.

Launching simultaneously with the updates is the first version of Lens Profile Downloader. The tool lets people find, download and rate some 300-plus lens profiles produced by users of Lens Profile Creator. It's meant to be used in tandem with Lightroom 3.x, Photoshop CS5 or Camera Raw 6.x.
