Sources claim plans for second Brisbane Apple Store

updated 11:00 am EDT, Wed October 20, 2010

Could arrive as late as 2012

Apple has set its sights on building a second retail store in Brisbane, Australia, sources claim. The people specifically say that Apple will assume the lease of a sports outlet, Rebel Sport, located on the eastern side of the city in the Westfield Carindale mall. Rebel Sport is believed to be moving to another space within the mall, but possibly to part of an expansion still under construction.

If so, the Apple Store might not open until the expansion is completed in 2012. The company's original Brisbane store is situated about 10 miles north. Australia so far has 10 Apple Stores in total, concentrated exclusively around the country's biggest population centers.
