Over 270,000+ iOS devices sold per day
Speaking during the company's Q4 conference call, Apple CEO Steve Jobs revealed that the App Store has cracked 300,000 in available in apps. The number was initially thought to have been hit by Saturday, but statistics later suggested that Apple had only achieved closer to 279,000 by that point. The 250,000 mark was surpassed in late August.
Jobs also used the call to claim that while roughly 200,000 Android devices are being sold per day, the iOS average has been 270,000 during the last 30 days, with peaks up to 300,000. The executive nevertheless charged that manufacturers are not reporting Android shipments, making it impossible to sell whether the iPhone or Android is currently doing better. August Gartner figures in fact concluded that Android had overtaken the market, scoring 17.2 percent worldwide versus the iPhone's 14.2 percent.
