Palm Pre 2 surfaces in first live shots

Palm Pre 2 confirmed by in-person French photos

HP's upcoming Palm Pre 2 just received further confirmation today through a set of live images that confirm its existence. The design spotted by MobiFrance is superficially similar but appears to have a larger screen and several improvements to its design and build quality. Its front is now flat and ridged, and shouldn't crack as easily; a charger door has also been pulled, and it may have a matte front.

A specifications check has reinforced beliefs that it will have a 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM, although its display resolution isn't known. The photos are blurry and make it difficult to tell if the Pre 2 has a 960x640 display or else if will keep the original 480x320. It raises the possibility of the leaked out Roadrunnner HD being either an upgrade to the Pre2 or an entirely new model.

Little else is known beyond the presence of webOS 2.0 and a camera with a flash. The sources associated with the images said HP wouldn't wait until CES to launch its new phones this year and would put out the Pre 2 in early November for at least SFR. American carriers haven't yet been mentioned, but three versions have appeared in testing that would cover European countries as well as both North American GSM and CDMA editions.
