Free MMORPG offers synchronous gameplay

Responding to popular demand, Sony Online Entertainment has partnered with TransGaming to bring the family-friendly virtual world adventure game Free Realms to the Mac platform. Mac users will join 14 million registered Windows players in synchronous gameplay, a first for SOE.

The game offers quests, mini-games and activities from raising virtual pets to ninja fighting, and offers a no-obligation free playing level where occupations offered include Chef, Kart Driver, Demolition Derby Driver, Brawler, Miner, Pet Trainer, Card Duelist, Postman, or Ninja.

Paid members ($5/month) can be more adventurous professions such as Archer, Wizard, Medic, Warrior, and Blacksmith, and also buy in-game items. There is also an "Adventurer" career for players who unlock enough achievements by travelling.

Free Realms is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and up with content that includes occasional crude humor and fantasy violence.
