Reveals design, and special lens for night photos

Panasonic Japan today officially unveiled its surprise entry into the mobile market, the Lumix Phone. The phone appears to be running a Panasonic proprietary OS, but as expected, it centers on the ability of the phone to take high-quality photos, as well as being able to instantly share pictures or collaborate with them.

The lens has a special reflected light suppression feature that helps the camera take much higher quality photos in night-time situations, where traditionally most camera equipped mobile phones do not excel. The 3.3-inch 854x480 VGA LCD display allows users to use a range of touch-activated functions to adjust photos or swipe to share via Wi-Fi, 3G, or DLNA. It also includes Panasonic's camera-centric Mobile VenusEngine image processing engine, a 13-megapixel CMOS sensor and a microSDHC. It will come in black, pink, gold and blue.

Pricing and availability has yet to be announced.
