Panasonic Lumix Phone officially launched at CEATEC

Reveals design, and special lens for night photos

Panasonic Japan today officially unveiled its surprise entry into the mobile market, the Lumix Phone. The phone appears to be running a Panasonic proprietary OS, but as expected, it centers on the ability of the phone to take high-quality photos, as well as being able to instantly share pictures or collaborate with them.

The lens has a special reflected light suppression feature that helps the camera take much higher quality photos in night-time situations, where traditionally most camera equipped mobile phones do not excel. The 3.3-inch 854x480 VGA LCD display allows users to use a range of touch-activated functions to adjust photos or swipe to share via Wi-Fi, 3G, or DLNA. It also includes Panasonic's camera-centric Mobile VenusEngine image processing engine, a 13-megapixel CMOS sensor and a microSDHC. It will come in black, pink, gold and blue.

Pricing and availability has yet to be announced.
