Microsoft promotes three execs to presidents

Software and hardware giant Microsoft on Friday promoted three executives to the titles of president to help fill out the vacancies when entertainment and devices president Robbie Bach left this summer, along with Business division president Stephen Elop. This includes Andy Lees, the senior VP of Microsoft's mobile communications business who now becomes the president of the mobile communications business; Don Mattrick (pictured), Xbox, Zune and Windows Media Center head becoming the president of interactive entertainment. Kurt DelBene, senior VP of the Microsoft Business Division will be president of the newly renamed Office Division.

Lees, 45, has led the communications business since February of 2008, and has a 20-year history at Microsoft. Mattrick, 46, joined Microsoft in 2007 and headed the Interactive Entertainment Business. DelBene, 50, has been with the company for 18 years.

The former president of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division, Robbie Bach, will be retiring later in 2010. J Allard said he's leaving as senior VP but will continue to be an advisor and report directly to CEO Steve Ballmer. Steven Elop, the former business division head, was picked up by Nokia as its new CEO.
