Google Chrome 7 beta adds Google Instant, GPU acceleration

Google Chrome 7 beta arrives with Instant built-in

Google late Thursday quietly posted its first beta of Chrome 7. The release is the first to implement Google Instant and will optionally update search results from the main search bar, not just from the Google website. Graphics acceleration now plays a much larger role and both speeds up some CSS transforms and turns on WebGL support for plugin-free 3D.

Most changes are universal, but Mac users now get an optional Expose-style visual view of all tabs that they can trigger with a three-finger swipe if they use a trackpad. Windows users get a rough equivalent that only shows the tabs in a sidebar.

The interface features usually need to be exposed by using the "about:labs" command in the address bar, but some are likely to be active by default by the time Chrome 7 reaches its final, stable version. Google is promising new revisions about every six weeks. [via CNET]

New Tab is annoying in Chrome 7

Now, when you open a new tab in Google Chrome 7, there are two rows appearing, one shows the "Most Visited" websites, and the other shows the "Recently Closed" ones... the annoyance is that there is NO option to remove those rows, there is only an option that collapses them, but are NOT removed.

In early versions of Google Chrome you could easily deactivate and remove them, so your New Tab was completely clean with nothing on it.
