Sirius XM intros simple XM Snap car receiver

The XM Snap accessory that underwent FCC testing earlier this month has now been officially revealed. Unlike theorized, it will not support Android devices but simply be an in-car satellite radio receiver that's much easier to install than a head end unit. The device will plug in to a vehicle's power port, and includes a stem that holds up the control panel.

The panel includes a rotary knob for changing channels, preset keys and arrows, along with a high-contrast display. The bundle includes a magnetic mount antenna for attaching to a roof, hood or trunk, though it is wired. An auxiliary input cable is also included for plugging into a vehicle's aux-in jack. Whether an FM transmitter is built-in is unknown, but likely.

The device ships in October for $60.
