Samsung Continuum 2-screen Android due for Verizon

Samsung may be readying a second Galaxy S phone for Verizon that would have a unique second screen. A leak handed out today by an Engadget tipster shows the Continuum, a Galaxy S-branded Android phone that would have a small OLED "ticker" beneath a primary one that would provide pieces of information normally reserved for widgets, such as news feeds, the time and the weather. It would be grip-activated and switch on just by holding the bottom of the phone.

Little else is given away by the plans, but it would improve on Verizon's Fascinate by moving the microSDHC slot to the outside instead of hiding it underneath the battery. A dedicated camera button would also reduce the likelihood of skewing the shot by touching the screen. Galaxy S labeling likely means it would have a 1GHz processor, a five-megapixel camera and possibly a four-inch Super AMOLED main screen. Samsung's customized version of Android is certain, and it's considered highly probable that the device will use Bing for search.

The Continuum hasn't had a date or price attached to it so far, but the fall CTIA show is due to start next week and may be Verizon's earliest opportunity to launch the phone.
