Sony VAIO Z get several significant upgrades

Sony Japan on Wednesday announced it has upgraded its 13.3-inch VAIO Z ultraportable notebooks. Due to ship on October 9 in Japan, they will include the choice of a 2.53GHz Core i5, 2.66GHz Core i5 or 2.8GHz Core i7. At the same time, newly optional is a 750GB hard drive or 256GB and 512GB SSDs.

Otherwise, the new VAIO Zs get SDXC card support, a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M for graphics and new lid colors. Its screen also gets up to a 1080p resolution. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WiMAX and a 3.1-megapixel camera are integrated. It keeps the same 3lb weight as the original.

A US listing exists for the new PC, stating it will start at $2,250, though ship dates are absent. [via Impress]
