OCZ intros 20Gbps HSDL interface for SSDs

Computer storage maker OCZ on Wednesday said it has developed a High-Speed Data Link (HSDL) interface to help speed up the transfer speeds of SSD drives. With the bus technology, OCZ hopes to eliminate I/O bottlenecks and enhance high-performance computing for its pro users.

OCZ says that, at up to 20Gbps of bandwidth per channel, HSDL is significantly quicker than other existing interfaces including SATA and SAS, which only reach up to 3Gbps and 6Gbps, respectively. Also, multiple HSDL channels can be combined to boost speeds further in either home or enterprise applications.

The first drive to use HSDL will be OCZ's 3.5-inch Ibis series of SSDs, though they aren't expected to reach the market for about six months. It and other drives with HSDL will ship with a single port adapter to ensure compatibility with other buses.

OCZ and platform partners will attempt to push the open standard for adoption by other hardware makers.

    any evidence

that Apple is going to incorporate HSDL into Sandy-Bridge-based Macs shipping in April of 2011?

    Re: any evidence

You mean on top of the evidence that Apple will be making Sandy-Bridge based macs, or that they will be released in 2011?
