HP Slate 500 put in late October release
HP's impending Slate 500 received even more photos today along with a new hint for its release date. A listener to the Buzz Out Loud podcast provided both more photos of the device and reinforced early claims that it would ship in October, pushing it back to the end of that month. The shots also show the combination USB and HDMI dock as well as a book-style case.
Launch strategies for the Slate have always remained murky, but the version shipping in a month's time is expected to focus primarily on enterprise workers, although a "consumer version" was mentioned in a recent video. It's known to largely represent a Windows 7 netbook without a keyboard as it has a 1.86GHz Atom, 1GB of RAM and a 32GB solid-state drive mated to an 8.9-inch multi-touch screen and both front and back cameras.
Pricing was once estimated to sit above the iPad at $549, though this would include a 3G modem and may have changed since it appeared months ago.
