Clear to soon launch 4G home modem as per FCC
A new 4G modem from Clear has appeared undergoing FCC testing recently. The device is unique compared to the two other Clear 4G modem offerings in that it does not have a built-in battery and won't be useful for mobile use. It gets Ethernet and what appears to be a VoIP phone jack instead, and as usual retains Wi-Fi to share the 4G connection with wireless devices.
It's unclear how many such gadgets are supported, though the mobile Rover Puck can handle as many as eight. The Clear Modem with Wi-Fi carries the WIXFBR-117 model number and is built by Gemtek.
Clear offers the WiMAX 4G service in 23 states and the District of Columbia in the US. A ship date is unknown but likely very near, while pricing remains unknown. [via WirelessGoodness]
