Samsung hints at 10-inch Galaxy Tab for first half 2011

Samsung to ship 10-inch Galaxy Tab in 2011?

Samsung Mobile UK manager Gary Twohig revealed in an interview with SiliconRepublic that a 10-inch version of the Galaxy Tab will be released during the first half of next year. The devices, including the seven-inch version, will not sport a Super AMOLED display, he added, but the displays will be capable of displaying HD video. The 10-inch Galaxy Tab will still have a version of Android, but whether it's 2.2, 3.0 or a future release like Honeycomb isn't known.

At the same time, Twohig said the first, seven-inch tablets will be out near the end of October at O2, Vodafone, 3, Meteor and Carphone Warehouse in the UK. It will include a Sky News app and a few games, such as Nova, which will showcase the tablet's audiovisual capabilities. Samsung expects to sell 10 million Galaxy Tabs by the summer of next year globally.

The seven-inch Galaxy Tab will cost between $200 and $300 when it is released, said Samsung product executive Hankil Yoon, though this is when subsidized by carriers. This will undercut iPads, though the Apple product isn't sold subsidized and doesn't support voice networks, even in the 3G-equipped versions.

Droidtards will gasp at sticker price

for an unsubsidized version of a 10" Samsung Galaxy Tab. It's not going to come anywhere near the price of a low-end WiFi iPad.
