Samsung Captivate gets firm Rogers launch details
Rogers today started taking preorders for its version of the Samsung Captivate. The Android flagship first shown for the Canadian carrier in the summer should reach the network in mid-October for $150 on a three-year contract. It had planned an earlier launch but faced a "manufacturing delay."
Those who pre-order get a free Bluetooth headset and are entered into a contest to win a Samsung TV, home theater and camera.
The Rogers version of the Captivate should be the same as its AT&T counterpart and center on a four-inch Super AMOLED screen, 1GHz processor and five-megapixel camera with 720p recording. It's likely that Rogers will be less restrictive and allow non-Market apps that are banned on the American model.
