Ricoh G700SE camera gets Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, more

Camera and office equipment maker Ricoh has revealed a new camera, with the G700SE recently. Its body is resistant to water and dust, and gets an optional GPS sensor of its own for geotagging photos. There is also a Wi-Fi link in addition to Bluetooth 2.1 for connecting wirelessly to other devices in order to transfer photos or get location information from external GPS sensors.

The camera's work focus is also evident through an optional barcode reader for scanning one-dimensional tags on devices. Users can protect their photos and lock out the camera with a built-in password lock, and it also supports SD write-once read-multiple (WORM) cards for the police and others who need tamper-proof evidence.

The camera is expected to arrive in Europe during the first half of 2011, priced at the equivalent of $1,070. Ricoh sometimes makes its cameras available in the US but hasn't committed to a release in the country so far.

    Great piece of equipment

This camera is quiet special. Especially with the GPs and digital compass module. There is a german com√ľany (alta4.com) that is offering the full package with additional software to export images to google earth as kml or kmz file. This camera is truely different. Alsmost indestructable and quiet smal if you take in account that its got loads of great features built in (WiFi, Bluetooth, shok, water and dust resistance...)
