Mitsubishi shows SXRD-based 3D projector

At the CEDIA show in Atlanta on Thursday, Mitsubishi's presentation division launched its latest home theater projector, the Diamond 3D 1080p. Based on Sony's SXRD liquid crystal on silicon technique and with Mitsubishi's own software, it's capable of producing images larger than 100 inches at a very high 120,000:1 contrast. The six-piece, 17-cluster optics are made of extra-low dispersion glass.

The Diamond 3D projector has an auto-iris function and a 120Hz refresh rate necessary for producing 3D images. Users can custom tailor the hue, intensity and brightness, as well as individual red, green, cyan, magenta and yellow colors through the independent management function. Setup is also said to be simple, with 100 percent vertical and 45 percent horizontal lens

The noise level is kept low at just 19dBa. There are two HDMI 1.4 inputs, while an Ethernet port lets users connect to third-party remote operations. The lamp is said to have a 4,000-hour life when in low conversation mode.

Pricing and a release date for the projector haven't been discussed.
