HP unveils Omni 100, TouchSmart 310 all-in-ones

HP intros Omni 100, TouchSmart 310 all-in-one PCs

HP has introduced two new all-in-one PCs this week, with the TouchSmart 310 and Omni 100. Both include 20-inch screens with a 1600x900 resolution, though only the former's is touch-enabled to take advantage of HP's latest TouchSmart software. Th front end lets them access free and subscription-based apps from the web, and lets users easily drag apps, music, photos, videos and other content from the web onto the desktop, like fridge magnets.

The Omni100 is powered by a 1.8GHz Athlon II CPU and gets 3GB of RAM. It has a standard 500GB, 7,200RPM hard drive, but 1TB of storage is available. HP gives it Wi-Fi, two built-in speakers and a webcam. the Omni 100 is not touch enabled and does not feature HP's TouchSmart software. Instead of TouchSmart, it uses HP's MediaSmart software.

The TouchSmart 310 gets a 2.8GHz AMD Athlon II with 4GB of RAM. A 1TB, 7,200RPM hard drive comes with it, but can be upgraded with 2TB of space. It gets Bluetooth in addition to Wi-Fi, a TV tuner and two integrated speakers and a webcam.

The Omni100 starts at $500, while the TouchSmart 310 will cost $700. Both ship on Wednesday.

At the same time, the company's TouchSmart tm2 convertible notebook PC with the new TouchSmart Mobile 2.0 software ships on October 27, starting at $830. It uses an upgraded ultra-low voltage Core i3.
