Casio intros EX-H20G and EX-Z16 compact cams

Casio grew its Exilim Zoom range by two today with both high-end and low-end models. At the top, the EX-H20G is its first with a full GPS system to geotag shots. The system takes a hybrid approach with both a true GPS receiver as well as motion sensors to estimate the position based on how far the photographer has moved from the last known position.

The approach is designed to be power-efficient and has a detailed database of over 140 cities to help identify locations as well as 10,000 landmark shots as reference. Date and time information can be attached to shots based on the known position.

Outside of its mapping system, the camera is still high end with a 14.1-megapixel sensor and a 10X, 24-240mm equivalent lens. Casio adds in 720p video, an outdoor-ready LCD, a 360-degree panorama mode and an optional full auto scene mode. The H20G should ship in November for $350.

The entry level is served by the EX-Z16. It has a unique angle-edged body but fills in the role of a basic shooter with a 12-megapixel sensor, a 3X lens and 480p widescreen video. It ships sooner than its companion, arriving before the end of September, and will cost just $100.
