Panasonic GH2 design leaks out with 16MP sensor, 5FPS bursts

Panasonic GH2 to get new sensor and high speed

Panasonic's first real second-generation Micro Four Thirds camera, the GH2, has leaked with what appears to be authentic details. The camera would have an SLR-style body with a swivel screen like the G2 but would upgrade to a brand new, effectively 16-megapixel sensor. Specs compiled by 4/3 Rumors would have the GH2 widen the light sensitivity to ISO 12,800 and switch on support for 1080i 60FPS video, and possibly 1080p in an out-of-spec mode.

The image processor is thought to have been upgraded to a triple-core chip that would play a large part in improved performance across the board. Burst shooting at full quality would ramp up from 3.2FPS to 5FPS even with the larger images, and autofocusing time would drop to just under 0.1 seconds with a 14-140mm lens. A special slow-motion mode would snap photos at 40FPS in return for a lower resolution.

If all details of the GH2 are accurate, the camera would be unveiled the first day of Photokina itself, on September 21. The G2 normally sells for $800, but it's unknown if the GH2 would be inexpensive enough to match that price.
