updated 07:00 am EDT, Fri September 17, 2010

Display currently ships in 1-2 weeks

Apple's anticipated 27-inch Cinema Display first announced in July, is now shipping. According to Apple's online store, the display will reach buyers within 1-2 weeks. The 16:9 LED backlit, widescreen display revolves around a 2560x1440 resolution with in-plane switching (IPS) that produces better color accuracy and wider viewing angles

The design incorporates an iSight camera, microphone, 2.1 channel 49 watts speaker system, and USB hub that includes three powered USB 2.0 ports. Also included are three cables: Mini DisplayPort for input, a MagSafe connector to recharge MacBooks, and USB to connect both audio and the hub. The display also has strong green credentials and is mercury-free, arsenic-free and is also free of BFRs and PVCs. The glass and aluminum display are recyclable.

It costs $999 and includes free shipping when ordered through the Apple Store.

    I wonder...

... if the USB ports are capable of delivering a full charge to an iPad?

... if someone makes an anti-glare film for this?

Most likely on the iPad. Apple just loves spreading around these non-standard USB ports to irritate people.

Apple really needs to step up their partnership wi

The ATI cards just are not cutting it. They have compatibility issues with high end software as well as the new emerging gaming market. And feeding this display at native res for gaming with an ATI card is a joke.

The insistence from Apple in only offering either bargain basement nvidia or super high-end must end. You can either get the pathetic low-end card or the insanely overpriced Quadro. Let's get the mainstream line up from nVIDIA in there!

    Let's go Apple-NVIDIA!!
