Latin American countries join mix
Five more countries have been added to Apple's list of Friday iPad launches. New to the roster are five Latin American countries, namely Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Both 3G-ready and Wi-Fi-only versions of the tablet will go on sale, though an Apple press release does not mention local carriers.
The major launch scheduled for the 17th is China. The country will only get Wi-Fi models at first, but the size of its burgeoning middle and upper classes may prove lucrative to Apple. Prices are slated to be higher than in the US, starting at a minimum of 3,988 yuan, or $588.
