Suggests end to supply problems
All of Best Buy's 1,093 US stores will carry the iPad as of September 26th, according to an announcement. At present the retailer is only offering the device through the Apple Shops in 673 outlets. Prices are very marginally higher than Apple's own, for instance $499.99 for a 16GB Wi-Fi model, instead of $499 flat. A 3G tablet from Best Buy costs a minimum of $629.99.
The expanded reach suggests that Apple is no longer having any problems meeting iPad demand. Online shipping times plummeted during August, from 5 to 7 days at the beginning of the month to 1 to 3 by the middle, and finally to within 24 hours by August 28th. Both Apple and Best Buy are expected to put heavy emphasis on the iPad this holiday season.
