Nikon D7000 DSLR, accessories spotted early

Some early photos of what is expected to be the new Nikon D7000 DSLR and related accessories have been leaked slightly ahead of schedule thanks to Nikon Rumors. The camera is expected to replace the D90 and get dual memory card slots, though this is yet to be confirmed. Otherwise shown for the first time are the Speedlight SB-700 external flash as well as new AF-S 35mm f/1.4 and AF-S 200mm f/2.0G IF-ED N VRII Nikkor lenses. All are due for an official release tomorrow, September 15.

The D7000 is said to sport a magnesium alloy, weatherproof body, a 16.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and the ability to record 1080p video at 24p for up to 20 minutes at a time. Images can be captured from the video straight from the camera as well, and autofocus while recording should be adjustable. A stereo microphone input should also enhance quality of videos. There will not be a swiveling display like on the recently seen Canon 60D. The D7000 body may cost $1,200.

The Speedlight SB-700 flash unit is expected to work best with lenses in the 24-135mm zoom range and tout built-in heat protection, while carrying a $300 price tag.

The AF-S 35mm prime lens with get a nine-blade aperture, along with a nano coating and aspherical element for the glass. It's expected to cost $1,800. The larger AF-S 200mm f/2.0G IF-ED N VRII lens is much dearer, at an expected $6,000. It's said to get 13 elements in nine groups and also get a nine-blade aperture.

These specs and prices should be confirmed by tomorrow, with ship dates also expected to arrive.
