Uses unlimited layers, space
Bohemian Coding has released a new vector drawing application, Sketch 1.0. The title relies on a minimalist design, foregoing palettes and panels. It does however have unlimited layers, and drop-down menus for access to tools and modifiers. Ten pre-defined shapes are included, which can be customized or added to by users. Shapes are composed of objects, like vectors, pictures, or text, which are designated as symbols.
Artists have access to an infinite workflow and drawing space; rulers, grids and alignment tools can be applied as necessary. Layers can be grouped and ungrouped, and gradients can be either radial or linear. An import function supports JPEG, TIFF, PNG and GIF files, while output can be exported to PDF, SVG, EPS, JPEG, PNG or GIF.
Object modification tools include Boolean operations, Join & Split, Decorate, Transform, Scissors, Rotate, Smart Rotate, Eraser, Distort and Mirror. Among text tools are Text on Path, user-definable text styles, kerning, leading, stroke and fill.
Sketch 1.0 requires Mac OS X 10.6. It should normally cost $55, but an introductory price of $35 is being run through Friday. Family and business packs are also available.
