Third-party skin adds calling, texting
A third-party device for the iPod touch that adds voice calling and text messaging will be coming to the US market soon. Go Solar USA has announced a deal with Chinese accessory maker Yosion to distribute the Apple Peel 520 in the US. The skin fits over the iPod touch's case and adds a SIM card, battery, and Dock Connector along with apps to handle phone calls and messages.
Go Solar claims that, when fully charged, the Apple Peel's 800mAh battery provides almost five hours of talk time and 120 hours of standby use. Early reviews from overseas users report that the Apple Peel 520 works as advertised, although it has some shortcomings. It requires a jailbroken iPod touch to work. Call volume is fixed and SMS delivery can be erratic.
The first production run of the Apple Peel 520 is already sold out, and availability for the US market has not been announced. Go Solar USA says the Apple Peel 520 will retail for approximately $60. [via Engadget]

no jailbreak
Don't make it a jailbreak item, just pay the developer royalty fee and maybe Apple will let you sell it in the App store.
