Samsung Fascinate gets official Verizon ship date

Verizon today finally set a shipping timeframe for the Samsung Fascinate [site fully active soon]. The Galaxy S variant will be online tomorrow, September 8, and will be in retail shops the following day. Eithe area will sell the phone for $200, albeit only after a $100 mail-in rebate or online discount.

The phone is very similar to the Vibrant at T-Mobile and shares its simple candybar design with four touch-sensitive buttons below the screen; it primarily switches to CDMA for calls and EVDO for 3G. Like every Galaxy S edition, the Fascinate has a four-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, a 1GHz Samsung-made Hummingbird processor, a five-megapixel camera and extras such as Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11n Wi-Fi along with GPS. It ships with the usual Samsung-influenced Android 2.1 build, although Verizon pre-installs the free Amazon Kindle app to get users started.

A trio of Samsung's official Galaxy S accessories should be available in store at the same time, including a car dock for Google Maps Navigation, a charging cradle and a secondary battery with a Y-split cable to charge both the main and secondary batteries at the same time. These carry prices between $30 and $40.
