New images leaked by company head
Meizu appears to be readying another Apple clone, the M9 II, which has appeared in teaser photos posted by company head J. Wong. Interestingly enough, the executive claims Apple's new iPod touch "looks a bit like the M9 II." The Chinese company followed in Apple's footsteps, however, adopting a 960x480 touchscreen, 1GHz processor and similar form for the second M9 revision.
Previous reports suggest the touchscreen handset will be powered by Android 2.2, potentially with a customized UI. The device is also expected to support multi-touch gestures and a number of other features common to the iPhone 4 and latest iPod touch.
It is unclear if Meizu has scrapped its plans for the first-generation M9, which has yet to ship to customers. The company introduced the M8, an early iPhone clone, just several weeks following Apple's official announcement. The first-generation M9 was initially listed with an October shipping time-frame.
