Eye-Fi launches developer program

To celebrate and coincide with its fifth-year anniversary, Eye-Fi has announced a new Developer Program that will expand its wireless SD card platform. Eye-Fi makes memory SDHC cards that have their own Wi-Fi connection and can send images captured by compatible digital cameras to a predetermined location on the web. Now, third-party developers can embed Eye-Fi functionality in their own apps.

The company extended the available platforms, other than PCs, from which developers can view photos and videos from an Eye-Fi account from any website or app, though hasn't mentioned any specific names. Third parties can send the photos from an Eye-Fi card to 45 sharing sites that have partnered with Eye-Fi. Developers will also have the ability to manage settings in the Eye-Fi panel.

Eye-Fi's memory cards start at $50 and range up to $150.
