Korea, Taiwan get iPhone 4 launch dates

updated 10:40 am EDT, Mon September 6, 2010

Taiwanese date may sync with China

Two key Asian countries should get the iPhone 4 within a matter of days, accounts say. South Korea's KT has announced a September 10th release date; pre-orders have been ongoing since last month. The carrier is reported to have planned a launch for July 30th, but been hampered by government approval. The device did get certification, however, by early August.

Sources in Taiwan's cellphone industry meanwhile claim that the country will get the iPhone 4 on September 15th. The people note that since August, over 150,000 pre-orders have been registered between three different carriers. The sources further say that a Chinese launch will happen at the same time, a day before the date pegged in earlier reports.
