Klipsch intros Image One, S5i Rugged and S3
Klipsch took advantage of new iPod launches to trot out three headphones to match. The Image One breaks the most ground of the three and is Klipsch's first over-ear headphone set with an in-line mic and remote compatible with all iOS devices. The leather-lined design folds flat and will ship in November for $150.
The Image S5i Rugged enters new territory for in-canal earbuds and is toughened slightly for outdoor use: the earpieces have a rubberized surface, while the remote is both moisture-resistant and has oversized buttons that can be tapped using gloves. Listening quality should be similar to those for the S4i, and the price sits at a commonly seen $130 for a November debut.
For the first time, Klipsch has also dipped into entry-level earbuds and unveiled the Image S3. They lack the remote and the upscale housing of the S4 and S5 lines, but it's not clear what audio quality changes have been made to lower the price. The set ships first of the entire group and will cost $50 when ready for October.
