Both companies' cases will ship in September

Following Apple's announcement of the fourth-generation iPod touch, Belkin and WaterField have launched cases for the new iOS device. Belkin has announced 14 new cases -- five grip cases, two shield cases, four verve cases and three armbands. The grip cases are textured for easier handholding. The Grip Ergo with Strap features a fitted design and a removable strap, in translucent black or taro, while the Grip Groove Duo has a wavy texture and arrives in either black-and-clear or gray-and-purple color combinations. The Grip Graphix swirls two colors into the wave textures, mixing aqua and white, mauve with pink or black with clear. The Grip Vue eschews textures for a high gloss finish, in nine colors, while the Grip Edge moves to black or brown leather.

Belkin's Shield cases are impact-resistant hard cases. The Shield Eclipse offers a smooth texture in black, taro, night sky and blue colors, while the Shield Micra is an extra-thin case available in eight colors.

The Belkin Verve cases are fashion focused. The Verve Cinema is a leather case with a kickstand for viewing movies on the Touch. The Verve Sleeve is a leather sleeve with a flip-over strap, while the Verve Sleeve with Clip adds a belt clip. The Verve Folio is a leather case with a credit card holder and a flip-over cover to protect the Touch screen.

Armbands from Belkin include the moisture-wicking Pro Fit, an ultra-thin armband with a clip system for easy on-off access. The Dual Fit is a neoprene band with a key pocket, while the FastFit uses a slim armband and a removable iPod sleeve. It also has a key pocket and a belt clip. Prices have been announced for some of the new Belkin items, which range from $20 to $40. Shipping is expected in September.

WaterField has launched a suede sleeve case for the new iPod touch. The iPod Suede Jacket is a minimalist ultrasuede sleeve that has an optional pocket for earbuds. It cleans the screen with each use and doubles as a screen wipe whenever needed. It ships September 15 in standard black for $10, or $14 with the pocket. Its also available for $12 -- $16 with a pocket -- in zebra or cheetah prints.
