Netgear-built Roku XD Player surfaces in FCC documents

updated 10:40 pm EDT, Thu September 2, 2010

Function still a mystery

Two new Roku Players have surfaced in FCC documents, including one variant that appears to be borne of a collaborative effort with Netgear. Each of the filings carries a Roku XD label, while the tests point to 802.11b/g/n connectivity paired with Ethernet, composite video, and HDMI connections.

The Netgear variant is listed as the XD Player, model NTV250, while the other device is simply the Roku XD with the model designation 2050X. It is unclear if the Netgear device will work as a client/server streaming platform, or serve a different purpose.

Netgear and Roku have yet to formally introduce the new devices. [via Wireless Goodness]
