Sony shows 3D-capable, 240Hz notebook prototype

Sony is showing off a prototype notebook equipped with a 240Hz, 3D-capable LCD display. Engadget was granted an early look at the device, which uses an integrated IR transmitter to synchronize with the required Bravia active shutter glasses. The prototype uses a current VAIO F-series 16-inch notebook chassis, but the production versions due for release in 2011 are likely to be housed in a different body.

What's also not known is whether the notebooks will be bundled with a set of 3D glasses or if users will need to buy them separately. Pricing for the notebooks is unknown, but should be competitive with other 3D notebooks on the market.
