ViewPad 7 confirmed, to get phone functionality

Ahead of an official unveiling at the IFA expo due to kick off this Friday, ViewSonic has confirmed its 7-inch Android tablet, the ViewPad 7. It will have phone functionality as well, making it the largest phone tablet out there, beating out the five-inch Dell Streak. Users can access the web thanks to a 3G connection in addition to making voice calls, or sending text and MMS messages.

The ViewPad 7 has a full-sized SIM card slot, enhancing the possibility of it being subsidized by a carrier. The device will ship with Android 2.2 and has both a front-facing VGA camera for VoIP video calls and a rear-facing three-megapixel camera. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS are onboard as well, along with a USB port and a microSD memory card.

Preloaded software will allow for creating and editing office documents, hand-writing notes and reading e-books.

The ViewPad 7 is due to reach stores in October in the UK at a minimum, priced at the equivalent of about $540 contract-free. [via Pocket-Lint]

    I Hope

I hope the sonic viewpad tablet give the ipad a run for its money...something the dell streak failed to do. Looking at the Viewpad Tablet 7 it looks like it's better designed than the ipad or dell streak
