Sena Keyboard Folio for iPad includes built-in keyboard

updated 02:50 pm EDT, Mon August 30, 2010

Allows netbook-style use

Accessory maker Sena has unveiled the Keyboard Folio, a new iPad case. While similar to some other leather folio-style cases, the Sena model includes a built-in Bluetooth keyboard, effectively transforming an iPad into a netbook. To that end, a stand on the back of the case can prop up an iPad for better viewing while typing.

The keyboard can alternately be folded back to use an iPad in a more traditional form. Before batteries run dry, it supports 45 hours of active use, or 55 hours of standby; a silicone face is a said to be liquid-resistant. The case itself is being manufactured in four different colors, including black, tan, red and brown. It will only ship on October 7th, but pre-orders get a $20 discount off the $150 retail price.

    Bad idea!

Once you buy this keyboard folio, you will not remove it and your iPad becomes just another netbook. It will prove just as awkward and low powered as the other junk out there.

Why convert a beautiful tablet into a piece of awkward junk?

    MacBook Air?

I agree w/ElectroTech - Why not just get a MacBook Air instead?

    What???

. It will only ship on October 7th,

That's really odd. I wonder why they're restricting their shipping to just one day. Limited edition product, I guess...

Why won't you remove it? Is it superglued in there? Is there an electric shield preventing you from removing it?

and your iPad becomes just another netbook.

Um, it's running the iOS. How does that make it just another netbook? You're saying the iOS is no better than Windows 7? Man, them's fighting words.

It will prove just as awkward and low powered as the other junk out there.

So, you say people will get it and always keep it in the case, despite the 'fact' that it is awkward and lowers power. Gee, I didn't realize iPad owners were so silly and stupid that they'd buy something that makes their iPad worse than before, and yet insist on keeping and using it.

Why convert a beautiful tablet into a piece of awkward junk?

Um, maybe because they want to use the beautiful tablet for many different things, including a lot of writing, and they want to do this is many a different place, and they'd like to have the convenience of having a real keyboard, since on-screen keyboards just blow, and the above solution is a whole lot better than hauling around an Apple docking station/keyboard.

But that's just a guess. But, remember, as you said, iPad owners are pretty dense. They probably don't have the intelligence to realize that a device's worth is, first and foremost, in how it looks.

But, dude, I can't believe you said all that about iPad owners. First you say the iOS is basically junk, then claim their idiots because they can't tell that, after adding this case, that their experience sucks so bad, and even if they did, they wouldn't realize that it's the case's fault.

On top of that, you ended up just mocking almost every iPhone owner out there. All those iPhone owners who encase their phones in plastic or rubber to 'protect' them. Claiming they're just as dense as iPad owners? Wow, man, you should sleep with your eyes open for the next couple of days.

Seriously, you should really work this out before insulting people on these forums like that.

Um, I don't know. The desire to save $1000.
