Sony Japan intros six 3D, BDXL Blu-ray players

Sony Japan has introduced six new Blu-ray players that will play back 3D Blu-ray discs and support the new 100GB BDXL format media as well. All also have built-in hard drives and are optical disc writers allowing users to record TV content and dual tuners for recording two shows at the same time. Another shared feature is a half-second boot up time from standby mode.

Users interface using Sony's familiar XMB also found in the PS3, and have access to TV listings in HD. The BDZ-AX2000 alone gets Sony's CREAS Pro image processing engine, while the others get the less advanced CREAS 3 technology.

The AX2000 gets a 2TB hard drive, with the AX1000 sporting a 1TB drive. The BDZ-AT900 has a 1TB drive, the AT700 gets a 500GB HDD and the AT500 makes do with a 320GB unit. The entry-level BDZ-AT300S has only one tuner and a 500GB hard drive.

Prices remain unknown, as does when if at all the devices will ship outside of Japan. [via Akihabara]
