Apple surprises with early Sept iPod, iTV event
Apple today up-ended expectations and said it would hold a special music event on September 1. The invitation provides few details but has the photo of a guitar with the Apple logo as a cut-out, signalling that Apple will once again focus primarily on music. It comes about six days ahead of a rumored September 7 date.
The only known detail for the event is a fourth-generation iPod touch, which should have a 960x640 Retina Display along with a front camera for FaceTime and possibly a back camera as well. A revamp of the Apple TV known as the iTV, with iOS, streaming videos and apps, is also rumored to be part of the plan.
Other candidates could include a new iPod nano, which has always had an update each year since it was introduced, and a replacement for the iPod shuffle that might use a miniature touchscreen.

Time to upgrade my Touch
When I bought my Touch, I was under the impression that the only difference between models was the storage capacity. Well, it was pretty clear to me that my 8gb Touch was actually only a 2nd gen model after iOS 4 came out (even though it was "new")... since none of the features were supported. Gonna toss this piece of c*** and get the new one. Maybe then my games won't stutter every 5 seconds.
