Shape Services launches web IM client
Seton Hill will be starting a new pilot program this fall that looks to see how iPads can be integrated into the student learning experience, while Shape Services has announced the release of a web client for its IM+ service
Back in April, Seton Hill announced that it would be providing an iPad to every student this semester, and now has outlined plans to begin using Art Authority for iPad in some classes. The application includes a database of more than 40,000 paintings and sculptures from over 100 western artists, organized by artist name and artistic period. In addition to the works of art, users can also find detailed information on the artists themselves, along with period overviews, timelines, and histories. Art Authority for iPad, which usually costs $9, will be provided to students for free as part of a pilot program that aims to find how the iPad can aid and enhance the traditional learning environment.
Shape Services brings IM+ to the web
Shape Services has launched a new web client for its IM+ instant messaging application. IM+ allows users to connect to multiple IM networks simultaneously and can handle several chats in one browser window through the use of a web mail inbox layout. Among the supported chat services are AIM, MSN/Live Messenger, Facebook, Google Talk, and Jabber. Users can sign into each account individually, or combine the information of several accounts into one IM+ account that can automatically log into each service. Other features include notifications that can alert the user of incoming messages, along with chat histories, which can display messages from the past day, week, two weeks, month, three months, six months, or year.
