New Galaxy Tab photos show Samsung cloning iPad aesthetic

Samsung Galaxy Tab has iPad-like UI and docking

Samsung's Galaxy Tab has been spotted again in China with design choices lifted directly from the iPad. The Android tablet's browser is directly patterned after Apple's, including the page management feature, while the on-screen keyboard is also somewhat similar. Ifanr notes that Samsung went as far as to use a Dock Connector-like design at the bottom rather than a USB port.

The spy shots do suggest better specs than feared earlier. Samsung's seven-inch Super AMOLED display should reach 1024x600 rather than the earlier 800x480, and in its current form it would use more of the stock Android 2.2 interface rather than Samsung's TouchWiz layer. Its 3.2-megapixel back camera, VGA front camera, 3G and GPS are expected, although the PowerVR SGX 540 graphics should make it one of the fastest tablets so far.

An introduction for the Galaxy Tab is expected at the IFA show next week in Germany. Samsung is fully expected to launch the Galaxy Tab worldwide and could release the slate in the US through Verizon as a subsidized device. It may be the largest competitor to the iPad in the short term as most are either coming from smaller firms or are delayed until next year.

    what should we (Apple) expect?

Just like the "old" days when the USA did the innovation and the Orient ripped it off under the guise of "cheaper and better."

    That rez makes NO Sense

Sounds like reporters doing a lot of guessing and little usage of their brains. If this were true...

It means none of the current android apps would run on this machine - except as a little window.

That would be a big mistake.

I don't see this getting very far out of the gates if that is the case.

Nice specs with no apps = bust.

They would be far better off with a tablet rez = to the existing phones than this.

Wow, when did 'we' become part of Apple?

    Huh?

"Nice specs with no apps = bust."

I've got no issues finding apps for my Droid. Since this is Froyo, I'd imagine the same apps will run.

In fact, I'll say it will probably be better than the iPad, just like my Droid X is slightly better than the iPhone.
