Verizon's HTC-made Chrome OS tablet may use N-trig panel

Verizon Chrome OS tablet would use N-trig tech

Verizon's Chrome OS tablet gained support today with a claim in Israel's Haaretz that N-trig is supplying the touch panels. HTC reportedly chose the technology after N-trig won a bid and would represent one of the few non-Windows uses of the multi-touch displays. It remains secretive, and even most N-trig workers aren't allowed to see the project.

N-trig is best known for its Windows tablet PC technology and provides the panel behind the Dell Latitude XT2. It supports both finger and stylus input and could give the Google-branded tablet the option of precision drawing if necessary.

The hardware is rumored to be shipping November 26, although this may now be subject to change. Rumors of a 720p screen and NVIDIA Tegra 2 hardware have been called into question, although Chrome OS' focus on web apps will let HTC keep just a small amount of flash memory and lower the price.
