Kodak intros EasyShare M590, 10-inch photo frame

updated 08:15 am EDT, Mon August 23, 2010

On-board tagging offers social network sharing

Kodak today rolled out a camera with a social networking component the 14-megapixel EasyShare M590. Using an on-board tagging tool, users can tag a photo for upload to Facebook, Flickr, Orkut, YouTube, and Kodak Gallery. It also allows photos to be tagged to an e-mail account and sent directly to an internet-enabled digital photo frame. Once tagged on the camera, photos are automatically distributed once connected to a computer.

It is purported to be the world's thinnest 5X optical zoom digital camera, weighs only 129 grams, includes a 2.7-inch display and is capable of HD picture and video capture. It has 64MB of internal storage but uses microSDHC to handle the brunt of its storage while keeping small. Additional functions include image stabilization and face detection.

The Kodak EasyShare M590 comes in silver, red, purple and blue color options, and will be available this fall for $200.

Also launching is a 10-inch Pulse Digital Frame, a larger version of its seven-inch model. The photo frame continues to rely on a full touch interface and has internal Wi-Fi to link to Facebook or Kodak Gallery as well as take photos directly through e-mail. It also ships in the fall for the same $200 price as the camera.
