Should arrive by early next week
Apple is already shipping online orders for the 2010 Mac Pro, according to anecdotes. Pre-orders began on August 9th, with an estimating shipping time of 7 to 10 days. Systems have been going out since at least Thursday, and if not already delivered are likely to arrive by early next week. One AppleInsider reader points to an August 24th target.
The Mac Pro has been given a variety of upgrades this year, most notably the option of scaling to two six-core, 2.93GHz Xeon 5600 CPUs. Video support extends up to an ATI Radeon HD 5870, and storage options can go as far as having four 512GB SSDs. The computer is Apple's most expensive, starting at a minimum of $2,499 for a quad-core system; a 12-core machine is $4,999. Shipping times have shrunk slightly to between 5 and 7 business days.
