Razer shows first mechanical gaming keyboard

Razer intros mechanical gaming keyboard

At the Gamescom show today, Razer introduced its upcoming BlackWidow mechanical gaming keyboard. The move back to traditional design is said to provide a more physical response but a quicker response similar to a mouse click. The key actuation point is placed halfway through the full travel distance so gamers don't have to put in as much effort.

The keyboard also gets fully programmable keys and on-the-fly macro recording, as well as five dedicated gaming keys. The BlackWidow ships in September for $80. An Ultimate version arrives next month as well, adding backlit keys with five levels of lighting, 3.5-inch audio and microphone jacks as well as a USB port. It will cost $130.

And they said Generation X was lazy. At least they (we) were willing to push a key all the way down without complaining.

I'm just kidding of course. It makes sense to have tools that are fine-tuned for the needs of specific users; it's just a funny way to phrase it.
