Panasonic Viera GT25 goes to 42 inches, lower cost

Panasonic today bowed to pressure for lower-cost 3D TVs with a new set of 3D Vieras. The GT25 series (not yet pictured) primarily shrinks in size to get to lower prices and are aimed at gamers that don't necessarily need large sets. At 42 and 50 inches, the P42GT25 and P50GT25 are both smaller than average but skip the glasses that normally add to the price.

Both still have 600Hz, 1080p displays and support the full range of Internet features, including Amazon VOD, Netflix and YouTube video streaming as well as Pandora, Twitter and other components. Wi-Fi isn't built-in but can come through a USB adapter; the USB port also provides media sharing. Some 2D video can be converted to 3D.

The two Viera TVs are shipping quickly and will be in shops by the end of this month at prices of $1,700 for the P42GT25 and $2,100 for the larger P50GT25.
