updated 06:55 pm EDT, Fri August 13, 2010

Tower supports RAID 0, 1, 5, hot spare, more

SansDigital has expanded its TowerRAID series with a new 8-bay RAID tower, the TowerRAID TR8XP. The tower supports both SATA and higher-speed SAS hard disks and provides a mini-SAS 6G interface with a supporting PCIe 2.0 x8 6G RAID controller. The 8-Bay enclosure supports RAID levels 0, 1, 1+0, 5 and JBOD, while delivering up to 650MB/s read and write speeds.

RAID configuration and management is available directly from a web browser, which provides optiokns for RAID level migration, RAID expansion, RAID roaming and e-mail notification for errors and other problems. The tower also supports a hot spare for quickly rebuilding data following disk failure.

The TR8XP supports the Mac, Windows and Linux systems. It is available in a number of configurations: diskless for $745, filled with eight 2TB SATA disks for $2,265, or filled with eight 450GB SAS disks for $6,345.
