USBfever ships case, dock switch, more
OtterBox has begun taking orders for its Defender- and Commuter-series iPad cases. The Defender combines a clear protective film, a polycarbonate shell and an outer silicone skin. It has a removable dock door, a multi-directional shield with a fold-out stand, and silicone plugs for all the ports. Silicone grip pads keep the device stable when laying flat.
The Commuter combines inner silicone and outer polycarbonate layers, protecting the Apple logo on an iPad's back with clear plastic film. Like the Defender, it uses removable plugs to protect ports, and a removable cover for the dock connector. Supplied film protects the touchscreen. The Commuter is shipping now for $65, while the Defender should ship in two to three weeks. It can be pre-ordered for $90.
USBfever is meanwhile shipping new iPad and iPhone products. For the iPad, the company is selling the Carbon look. The case is a thin polycarbonate model, with a synthetic leather exterior and a rubber-coated interior. It provides full port access, and comes in red, black or white for $17. For both the iPad and the iPhone the company has launched a dock adapter, the Sync and Charging Controller. When active it only allows charging. Pricing is set at $10.
Rounding out USBfever's announcements is the $20 Custom-Made RearView Mirror Holder -- which offers multiple car-mounting possibilities for the iPhone 4 -- and the $15 Golf Bag/Sun Visor Clip Holder for iPhone 4, presenting more mounting options.
