Archos 32 Android tablet reaches the FCC

updated 09:35 am EDT, Wed August 11, 2010

Runs Android 2.1 on an ARM Cortex A8 SOC

The Archos 32 has reached the FCC for approval. It runs Google Android 2.1 on an ARM Cortex A8 SOC clocked at 800MHz. It centers around a compact 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen with a 400x240 resolution and touch-sensitive controls below the display.

The tablet features a standard Android interface and can access the Android Market. It's also capable of playing back a wide range of file types and can output video at 720p resolution when connected to a TV or monitor. Archos loads it with 8GB of internal of internal flash storage, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and composite video out. Like other Archos media tablets, it can be upgraded to enable live TV viewing and recording.

When released, potentially in September or October, the Archos 32 will join Archos' expanding portfolio of tablet devices running Android including the Archos 5 and Archos 7. It's expected to be priced at $150 after it was listed at this price when it briefly surfaced on the J&R website a few days ago. [via Wireless Goodness]
